Like notes on a pentagram: Eka Sharashidze’s Wall people
Eka Sharashidze is a Georgian artist currently living in Berlin. For her, photography is the expressive medium used to create collage images. In the series “Wall People” she captured profiles of passers-by and cut them out of their background like architects would do to compose a perspective image for a building competition.
In this project, cut-out people, instead of being superimposed to an architectural image, become the main subject of the images. Replicated and arranged in superposed layers, they are part of a larger composition which may resemble a schematic architectural section of a symplified building or even, seen from far away, a large musical score where the silhouettes act just like notes on a pentagram.
